Kiteboard selected for 2016 Olympics!
The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has confirmed the final event and equipment selections for the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition. Kiteboarding will replace windsurfing for the men's and women's board events. More: http://www.sailing.org/38281.php
The discipline was also included in the competitions of "Kite Party 2011". Last year the winner of "Burusports course race" was Viktoras Seputa from Lithuania, but the best kiteboarder from Latvia was Oskars Brivkalns, who took the 3rd place.

Kite Party 2012 from 26th - 29th of July

We're happy to reveal that Kite Party 2012 will take place from July 26th to July 29th! Book the last weekend of July to experience positive emotions in the competitions and parties!

Adventures of wind addicted in Ventspils - Kite Party 2011
This year more than 60 kiteboarders from all the Baltic States and Russian Federation were registered for Kite Party competitions, but in general more than 1,000 kiteboarders, their friends and supporters attended competitions, seminars and evening activities on the beach in the seventh Kite Party. We can safely say that this year Kite Party truly showed how much kiters love and respect their passion - kiteboarding. Standing across unsuitable weather, every Kite Party visitor could enjoy complicated kiteboard tricks, true spirit of the sport, activities on the beach and sunny and friendly atmosphere from Thursday morning to Sunday evening. Despite the factors that we can’t influence, everything else was provided and hopefully this year’s magnificent kite cocktail that will remain in memory as the greatest kiteboard party in this summer!
Thanks to everyone who came, participated, helped, and, of course, thanks to "Kite Party 2011" supporters - Aquapark "Ventspils", Ventspils City Council and the Olympic Centre "Ventspils", Captain Morgan, Monster Energy, Mynthon, Burusports, Surfpro, Extremesports, Aboard, thanks to Informative supporters - Radio 101, draugiem.lv and tvnet.lv. The biggest thanks to all of us - kiteboard and wind addicts!
Santa Vevere, won the 2nd place on Freestyle: "Kite Party 2011 was successful, it’s just sad that the weather wasn’t as good as expected. Competition turned into a kind of marathon, we had to quickly react and adapt. This time equipment had too big role. For me the kite was too small – the 1st place literally slipped out of hands. Overall, the event was cool, competition hard enough, but it would be great if kiters were more active and compete more. Next year I’m planning to participate again, only I hope that the wind will blow harder.”
Freestyle winner Povilas Vaisiauskas: “Weather was not very suitable for us, but anyway the competition was quite nice. This was third Kite Party I participate and I finally won the Freestyle. I had a lot of training in Brazil and Egypt this winter, so I'm in a good shape. The event was organized perfectly and I think that next year I will attend Kite Party again."
Burusports Course race (race boards) winner Viktoras Seputa: “First of all it's great that there still is such kiteboarding festival in Latvia despite of really bad economics. Tons of respect for people organizing it! I really liked the whole event: the comps were great, smooth and fast, without wasting any precious time and wind. The decision to continue the race on Sunday was really great; we had fantastic battle out there with some lucky winners! Also the parties were super nice; I've really enjoyed all 3 days of staying. Hope that next year there will be more competitors and more spectators, but this surely depends on weather!”
Janis Siders, participated in Freestyle : "Due to the race that started already on Friday, many of the Latvian riders couldn’t come and show they skills. Comparing the level of competitions in a three-year perspective, it seems that the level has been growing very slowly and over the years only a few new tricks have been added. Result is logical - “those, who are practicing more, receive more awards." Speaking about myself, I have to say that my result wasn’t surprise, because it was my third time with the kite this year and even kite was borrowed. Taking in to account these factors, results are pretty good.”

RESULTS
The first places in all individual disciplines won Lithuanians, but also Latvia was presented with high results by Oskars and Davis. Special congratulations to Santa, who got 2nd place in Freestyle and 4th place in Burusports course race with twin tip boards, starting in men group. And, of course, Latvian team got absolute victory in Extreme Sports Fun race discipline. Good job!

Fun race
FUN RACE competitions will take place in low wind conditions when the other disciplines could not be held due to lack of wind.
Participation is open to anyone who is willing to challenge. Team of four members may apply for the competition in FUN RACE discipline - three boys and one girl. It also could be, of course, only the girls' team, whereas only boys' team is not allowed.
The total number of teams is 8. Two teams participate in each round. The team that loses - falls out, but winners move on to the next round. That is how the strongest team will be selected.
What will be the challenge of discipline - it remains as a secret :)

Course race discipline
Course race discipline is provided by Burusports - with boat, judges and prizes. Course race will be divided into two groups - Race boards and "twin-tip"/ other boards, with a number of races and also the length of the race track will vary.
Winners will get awards from Burusports and North Kiteboarding - but it remains as a secret what exactly ;) Let's just say that it's a thing that every kiteboardist needs.
Freestyle discipline
Last year's finalists have approved their participation in Freestyle discipline. This year's freestyle jury will be experienced and knowledgeable kiteboarders from all three Baltic States: Lithuania - Justinas Zalys, Latvia - Aleksandrs Ogorodņikovs, Estonia - Martti Ainola.
Best kiteboarders in women and men classes will be awarded with ABoards prizes:
1st place - W-series 135cm / 141cm board,
2nd place - SFLS anatomic pads / straps,
3rd place - kiteboard bag.
Surf Pro Wave discipline
Surf Pro wave discipline is organized by Surf Pro team along with Pavilosta surfclub Spinout and kiteboarding association DDE. Wave discipline will be judged according to the PKRA Wave rules, which are available on the PKRA website.
Wave discipline jury - Reinis Plavins (knowledgeable, creative, one of the pioneers in the Latvian kiteboarding scene), Maris Minkevis (Surf Pro Team, windsurfing wave riding guru) and Dzintars Aulmanis (Surf Pro Team wave rider).
The top three winners will be rewarded with prizes from Surf Pro.
Good luck to the participants (14 kiteboarders have signed up online for wave discipline for now)!
50 kiteboarders from all Baltics states and Russian Federation has already registered for "Kite Party 2011"
Traditionally, the largest number of participants will be Latvians, but this year Lithuania will represent their country with especially wide team - 14 Lithuania's kiteboardists has already applied for the competition. Also the title of the youngest kitebordist in "Kite Party 2011" belongs to Lithuania - it is divided among two 14 year old kiteboardists Germantas Juskaitis and Domantas Jusionis. From Latvian representatives the youngest participant will be 16 year old Dāvis Čiže. Registration will continue during the competition, so it is anticipated that the number of participants will increase.

There's no summer without sea, kite and party!
The largest annual kitebording event in the Baltic's - Kite Party 2011 - is on its way! The event will take place in Ventspils from 28th of July to 31st of July, providing more sport activities than ever.
This year, similar to the last year, all the activities will take place on the surfing beach, bringing together the best home and neighbourhood kiteboarders and their fans!

NB! For the first time in Kite Party history the Surf Pro Wave riding competition will take place on any day of the week in period from July 26th to July 31st in Ventspils, Liepaja or Pavilosta. Event date and venue will be chosen depending on the weather and the exact date will be announced at least 24 hours in advance in kiteparty.lv, as well as in surfpro.lv and kitesurfing.lv! All players participate in one (open) group.
Burusports Coarse race participants will compete in women's and men's classes, in age groups up to 18 years and more than 19 years old. Separate starts will be for a "race" and "twin-tip" boards.
Extremesports fun race will take place in case of unsuitable weather conditions by registering teams of four people (at least 1 girl in each team). The teams will do various challenges in the beach.
Kiteboarding seminar for beginners:
Fee for workshop: 90 EUR / person (price includes theoretical and practical lessons, kiteboard equipment, lunch, snack kit).
Individual lessons: 20 EUR / h for 1 person or 30 EUR / h for 2 persons. In a case of lack of wind strength, a part of practice sessions will be replaced with a SUP (stand up paddle board) and the Seaside Aqua Park Ventspils visit.

Of course, there's no Kite Party 2011 without beach parties where kiteboard commune members gather along to discuss activities, enjoy waterpipe and rhythmic music...
- Sun Set Chill Out on Friday evening. This year DJ Chilayz [We Got Soul!] will take care for the atmosphere and positive vibes for your mind and body with the warmest, sunniest and freshest music from NU Disco and Indie Dance to House rhythms. Start: 21:00 - on the beach.
- Beach Party on Saturday evening. Musical mood - radio 101 and DJ Švāns.

Samsung Wave Kite Party 2010!
Dates: 29.07.-01.08.2010.
Absolutely officially we can announce that kiteboardists main event this year will be held in the last weekend of July (July 29th - August 1st) in Ventspils.
The event consists of competitions in men and women's classes, seminars for beginners and positive evening's entertainment. This year is already the sixth consecutive year, expanding together with growing Latvian kiteboardist commune.
All these years Kite Party has been blessed by the wind (except once – in 2006. But it did not affected the number of participants, and fun:)) and in competition large number of Baltic kiteboardists demonstrated their skills.
Also this year is projected a large number of participants in competitions and on the beach. Not only competition but also all other event activities will take place directly on the beach – starting from seminars up to Saturday’s final party - Samsung Wave Beach Party, which are expected special guests this year.

Volkswagen Kite Party 2008 was attended by two PRO riders!
Last year event was joined by Mallory de la Villemarqué from Spain, Tarifa and Tom Court from England. Both riders are from North kiteboarding team.
